San Gregorio Creek

The San Gregorio Creek Watershed is the second largest drainage in coastal San Mateo County, California.

The overall goal of NHI's San Gregorio project is to improve ecosystem function and water quality in the San Gregorio Watershed for multiple benefits, including native species protection and restoration, and water quality. Specific objectives in support of this goal include: 1) to scientifically assess watershed conditions and determine limiting factors; 2) to identify and prioritize restoration and management measures and strategies; and 3) to develop and promote the adoption of a robust Watershed Plan that will lead directly to strategic and coordinated restoration actions. Unlike ad hoc restoration or management efforts at a scale that responds to symptoms of problems in a one-off manner, this approach will take a watershed perspective and not only identify root causes of issues but also prioritize restoration actions.
